I couldn't even guess at the cost of most of the cameras in my collection but I know there's no way I could have afforded to buy them way back when... I did however manage to collect quite a few 'obsolete' cameras even then ( such as the old no longer wanted box cameras) and many of the simpler plastic variety but only today when you can buy a $1,000 camera for $50 can I afford to amass such variety... very sad in a way that these cameras are no longer treasured articles and film photography is fast becoming a thing of 'ancient times' as to is the camera itself.. quickly being replaced by the PHONE

What is it with the rubber used on some camera grips, it gets so gummy and sticky that its hard to put the camera down does anyone know of a way to neutralise this stuff so it doesn't become quite so sticky?

Hi Pilot.. nice to see another Australian joining, even if you are from the cold southern state, you still use your old SLR film cameras?

its not only Toronto I'm sorry to say.. since the advent of digital with its popularity for obvious reasons we dont have all those little mini labs competing for business anymore so the few that are left are free to charge what they wish and chemicals and paper have skyrocketed in price as well... guess thats progress... has its bad side as well.. lot of advantages with digital not the least of which is you can see immediately what you got and if you missed that really important shot

beautiful camera Mickey.. love the old folders and that one looks to be in exceptional condition I'm afraid I cheat, started with the idea of taking at least a couple of shots with each camera I buy but that idea went out the window with the need to cut down films and make photo paper plates for others... Digitals are so much simpler for everyday use Bob How right you are, Bob. I have plenty of cameras that I would like to try with film or even paper negatives. But the cost of film, paper and chemicals in Toronto is prohibitive. So may they RIP. I have become very fond of digital, its ease of use and absence of concern about the cost of each shot. However, I think I made better pictures with film as I spent far more more time and took more care with each shot. Mickey

OK, just giving it another go and thought I'd post picture of my Praktica SLRs, my biggest collection of a single make of SLR, 73 cameras in total, all in working order, I'm kind of partial to Praktica's as a super TL was my first try with SLR photography.... please excuse me if the picture is not here , after all just practising

think I may fit into the hoarder class myself.. But maybe now that I'm displaying what I hoard that might move me up to being a collector.. there's not much I don't "collect" actually but haven't quite dropped to old newspapers but I get close some times anything else is fair game Bob
