Hi Dave,
Sorry for the delay in reply, have been babysitting my granddaughter the last few days. I'm not far from the 2 places you mentioned, about 45 minutes car ride. The N113 passes through my village, we are between Castelssarrasin and Montech. My village is between the Canal du Midi and the Garrone, quite a popular region with tourists.

I use a f1.5 Summarit from time to time but for all practical purposes, I find that a f2.0/f2.8 lens suite me fine.

My interest in photography started when I worked for Morganites in Jarrow after my studies, that's going back 50 years. We have to photograph waveforms while testing the raw materials and develope the films to analyse the results. That's how I was hooked on photography and dark room work, this lead evantually to love of cameras and camera collection.

Hi Jay,
Welcome to the club, yes, I tend to agree with you, sad, but we live in a throw away age. Remember there was a time when everyone thought that the Japanese digital watches will kill the watch makers of Switzerland. Well they did not die but instead they came back stronger and their products are prized by all watch lovers. Wisful thinking but who knows, mechanical cameras might also make a comeback, Regards

Would be interesting to know what cameras were used to record the Korean war, this was the time when most of the SLrs did not exist.

I use all my 35mm by rotation, for digital, I use my Nikon 3000D, only on trips and excursion. I have replaced my Nikon APS with a Pentax RZ 10 which is kept permanently in my pocket.

This is my pride and joy, unfortunately it has been lying in the garage for the last 12 years. Had a good run with it, did a lot of rallies in Singapore and Malaysia.

When I was in Malaysia, I had to put all my equipment in an enclosed room and use a dehumidifier, every morning I had to get rid of a bucket of water from the dehumidifier.

Went out hunting for cameras with a friend once, he always carry a book on prices of old cameras when shopping. I remember we were in a shop and he pointed out to the owner that the price he quoted was out of this world. He had daggers in his eyes and literally threw us out of his shop. Lesson learned, if you think that the price is too high, just walk out of the shop without any comments.
