Well boys I mortgaged the farm and bought a Canon 5D full frame sensor 12 MP and a 28-70 f2.8 to go with the 70-200 f4 I already had. I have been testing the lenses I already had tro see if there was any truth to the rumor that the 5D would find any fault in a lens. Well it will definately find the edge sharpness

Sheesh! An old friend of mine says "the only difference between men and boys is the prices of their toys". Have fun Rick!

Congratulations. I'm green with envy! Still hoping to land a D200 by the end of the year. Don't think Nikon plans to make a full frame given the lenses they have brought out.
Let's see some pictures!

Wow Rick! A full frame digital camera sounds like a great way to mortgage the farm. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be waiting to see some images from it. Walker

The 5D is very impressive. It reminds me of my favorite EOS A2. The functions are the same and the viewfinder is extremely bright. Makes a DReb look like a cave. It is nice to put a 20-35 lens on and get that big wide view.

Congratulations Rick! Two of my photo friends have 5D's. The image quality is simply amazing. It challenges not 35mm but MF in quality. One of my friends has produced stunning B&W's with his unit.
I remain yours in green envy,
Gene

Looks like you are putting it to good use judging from the photos you have posted. I can imagine that it is really nice to put on your own old 35mm lenses and get the angle of view that you should get. Have fun.

Bob Bob, your comment about using 35mm lenses and seeing the same image as you would on a film camera is spot on and my thoughts exactly. That would be the biggest "plus" for me. Canon has gotten a leg up for the moment but I expect that others will follow with a full-frame DSLR very soon. The images from Rick's 5D are outstanding. Walker

I only hope Nikon is listening and exploring FF sensors. Yeah, the images from Ricks 5D are outstanding. You know there is so much BS out there on the net regarding FF sensors these images make you wonder.

Bob, I'm hoping that Pentax sees the light and makes a FF DSLR. I would also like to see Nikon and others do the same because competition would serve to bring prices down.
I'm afraid that the BS will always be with us in photography. Those with a committment to a particular brand will continue to debate the attributes of their choice and emphasize the perceived faults of other brands. I try not to get into arguments about which is best because I like a lot of different makes and use whatever suits my purpose at the moment.

The way Nikon has focused on DX lenses I'm not sure they plan on making a FF DSLR. If they did, I couldn't afford it anyway. The only reason FF would be nice is my 20mm lens would be a 20mm lens again instead of 40mm as it is on my DSLR.It it wasn't for the Nikon lenses I already have, chances are I would switch to Canon.

Well, I bought Canon because of the lenses I had. I bought the 5D because of shots like this. My clients are requestin some very large prints and I have no trouble doing 16x20 I had to soften it because with the 85mm f1.8 it was just to sharp and for detail like this a 50% crop of a portrait and a s wayne said my 20-35 really does look wide

You know Kodak built a FF years ago, the Pro 14sC and I had one. Had to sell it during the divorce. Canon was one of the biggest detractors. I got a lot of flack for it. but it shot great and was a 14 mp that was in '04. The Pro14 s used Nikon lenses but they built a few C's with Canon mount
