Hey guys, in regards to shaving; I use plain cheapo Suave hair conditioner. I stopped using shaving cream and started this after reading about it in the paper. It's been 20 years or so. It's much cheaper and I can see where I've shaved better than when I have lather on. I don't want to condition it. I want to get rid of it. I know. I'm insensitive. But I must try it. I might at last become suave. Mickey

Thank you Dave! I'm just starting to figure out this type of website. Being so ignorant, I only look for the "messages" to me personally, which there have been none lately. So I have to look up where I last posted, like this one. I'm a little slow, but I'll get it! Ha Ha. Hi Jim, we often get quite interesting diversions on many threads so it's worth looking around at the latest posts which you can do from the bottom of the main page. Thanks for your kind comments on my Thorens turntable Mickey how could you be more suave than you are

Thorens always made good turntables. David Niven made good moustaches. I've never had either.

My other great passion is driving in competitive off road trials, something I've done for nearly 20 years now, although my father taught me to drive in a Landrover when I was about 9 or 10 and I would sit on his knee. Now I drive this home built special that has some Suzuki chassis, Range Rover axles and some of its suspension, the engine is Subaru and the gearbox Daihatsu.

Back to shaving. I do not want to become a collector of Rolls Razors. Help me.... Pulleeeze. I now have seven. I overhaul and sanitize and use them. They will last forever unless the hone breaks. Then they are useless. The gospel has always been that a hone cannot be repaired. The crack would chip a blade. Baloney. I got a Rolls with a broken hone for $5. I repaired it in less than an hour. With todays miracle adhesives almost anything can be fixed. Now I am on the lookout for RR's with broken hones. I love it when told "It can't be done."
One thing leads to another. Now that I spend 15 or more minutes in the bathroom instead of 5 minutes I decided my 1970's decor needs modernizing. Tomorrow morning at 9 am demolition starts. Two weeks from the start I should be a Thoroughly Modern Mickey.
Very dated Mickey

Mickey
I never worried about broken Rolls Razor hones, I just do the blades on my straight razor hones. Good to know that they can be repaired though.
I find it cheaper to ignore the decor in my bathroom. My hat is off to you in picking one of the two most costly rooms in a house to modernize. Let us know how it turns out.

Strictly Cameras.
Why I am turning in my charcoal, pencil and paint brushes and sticking strictly to cameras from now on.

Elephant Artist.
I am giving up my charcoal, pencils and paint brushes. If an elephant can do that with her nose I don't stand a chance.
Suda - The Painting Elephant
Notice how steady she is and how she retraces her lines exactly and no erasures. This lady knows what she is doing.
As Jimmy Durante used to say "Da nose knows."

Philbirch,
My young brother who turned 80 a couple of weeks ago also makes walking sticks (canes) They are hand carved. He has also made doll houses and doll house furniture for his granddaughters. As well a ball point pens with wood or plastic barrels. He is very good at it with me as an older brother for advice - OK, I keep out of his way.
I still paint. I am very slow and have taken almost 3 years off and on to complete my last picture. The trouble is I never feel that any of my paintings are complete. Some day I must take lessons. Right now I am stuck for what to paint next. Fortunately oils don't go bad sitting in their tubes.
I just completed making a rack for a dozen fountain pens. I may not be so good but am never bored.
