Since I retired, I don't have to do my taxes anymore Mickey. We Canadians are always paying taxes. Usually we feel we get our money's worth. Well --- except, perhaps, our new Prime Minister. No bargain there.

I've been taking care of my wife after she had a hip and two knee replacements, and have had very little time to do much else. My work decided that I wasn't paying them enough attention and let me go Lately I've been writing a lot, complaining about forced retirement, collecting various writing instruments (my other passion), and being horribly grumpy and disgusted with myself. I need to get out of the house!!!! So. I'm dusting off those poor neglected cameras and heading out.

3 hours ago Doug T. said: I'm still here Doug, I am in much the same predicament as your wife but I am an 83 year old old man with very vindictive arthritis. My camera, the one I use regularly, my Pentax K5, is my ticket to sanity. I can use it indoors or out, fair weather or foul. I have always used a neck strap but now I have a strap that keeps the camera securely and reasonably comfortably attached to my hand. Find a theme for your photography and use it, develop it, enjoy it, but do not let it become a hard, demanding, labour intensive, slave master. And watch your expenses. You must minimize them. That is where digital is far superior to film. My photography includes flowers, insects, landscapes, old buildings and my very inexpensive collection of useable, old, inexpensive single edge razors. The first three may seem difficult when living in a big city like Toronto but there are a great many opportunities for them within and just outside of my city. And they are free. What interests you? Develop your interest(s). You might even indulge in a money making choice(s). With photography possibilities are unlimited. Best of luck. Mickey

My earliest is from a company founded in 1898, a GEM razor. I have tried just about every type of razor up to the very unfriendly Gillette Fusion with 5 edges. My preferences are the GEMs. I have 11 different models. They give as good a shave as any of today's multi edge razors. They are all used in rotation and are inexpensive as are the blades which are still readily available. Here they are: --- And a few others. I used my Pentax K5 to take this picture. About 5 years ago they and the incomparable Rolls Razor changed a lifetime of the annoying chore of daily shaving into a pleasurable relaxing morning interlude. Mickey

Ahhh very nice, look quite interesting... when you said single edge razors I pictured 'cut throats'for some reason still use an old Gilette double sided safety razor that I've had since my teens, have tried but dont like these multi blade things (just constantly clog) I do remember Gem razor blades with the stiff guarded back (used them for hobby work as a kid)

This is like dating ... from what I can remember?. Hobbies? Recently retired, and trying to figure-out what I want to do with my time. Still work part-time, but more for something to do rather than chasing an income. Client pool pretty much reduced to "the Church of England", for whom I do artisan-type woodwork (making and repairing furniture, etc). A chequered past has allowed me to indulge in hobbies for a living. Educated in the sciences (Botany/Zoology), but employed in the Arts, I've been a professional musician (when I was young and stupid), and a professional artist/illustrator (when I was much older and slightly less stupid). I've also had "real" jobs - 20 years working for the Government crunching numbers - before seeking a new occupation in joinery (another hobby), hence the Government pension that has allowed me to retire at a youthful 56. Currently looking for a new passion that exercises both brain and body. Very interested in returning to the sciences, and getting involved in animal conservation. Suggestions welcome!

Always been afraid to ask people for suggestions as to what I should do... some people are rude enough to tell me lol dont work at all anymore, it takes me a month to do what I used to in a day.. and thats if I happen to remember what I was trying to do The work around home here is more then enough to keep me busy , with a few little hobbies of course.. actually trying to sell this place so I can devote more time to doing ... NOTHING

I retired more than eight years ago, and have taken up the time by writing (novels and such). Found I had a knack for it. Six so, far, with another one in the works as I write. Four have been award winners, including my most recent one. I'll be going to the Readers' Favorite Awards ceremony in Miami this November to collect my latest. Check 'em out. They're a good way to spend all that extra time. ;-) www.ronaldherron.com

I do have pipes among my other collections but have been selling them off for the last few months (Ebay) still have many left though .. used to be a pipe smoker in days gone by and became interested in the many odd pipes available which quickly became 'another collection' but now they have to go, along with a few other collections. I think maybe I'm just a hoarder Only Cameras and model rail are staying to annoy my children when I go

Here is one of three display cases I have in my living room. These are 1/18 scale diecasts, and some of them are so detailed the windows roll up and down.
