On the backof my Exa 1 there is a little embossed triangle with, I think, the number 7 inside it but it's a bit indistinct. If you have the same Alex that might be what Randy is seeing.

Alex If you look at the back center panel in the 3rd photo. Look at the right side about half way down it does look like a dent This maybe caused by lighting or surface texture or a very small depression in the covering.

Checked it out, not a dent. Thanks for the concerns.

Has a certain 'klunky' appeal. I mean that in a good way Is it meant to have a prism viewfinder, or a matte screen?

Most of the Exa 1s, especially the really early ones with the shutter speed lever on top, www.swcornell.com/camera/exacta.htmlhad waist level finders. Some of the later ones like the one at the start of this thread, came with a penta prism

As far as I know, this is Exa version II. I visited a week ago Hungary and one of my friends there asked me slightly ashamed if I would be interested in his old and humble camera. My answer was YES and he brought me this jewel. It is not the most common Exa. The picture is a link to my Exakta page. Please try to click on it. I don't know if it is appropriate linking this way if not I'll delete it.
