Leaving next week with mate, granddaughter and dog on our longest trailer adventure to date. First leg: Home to Coos Bay, Oregon -- 535 miles with stopover in Bend, Oregon. We'll spend three days on the Oregon Coast, then head 385 miles north to Gig Harbor, Washington (near Seattle). We'll have a chance to see Sara's brother and my sister who both live in the area. After three days there, 503 miles back home, with a stopover somewhere along the way. Given the price of gas that will probably be our only trailer trek this summer. Lot's of beautiful scenery along the way to photograph.

Have a safe vacation and on the bright side your gas is still cheaper than north of the border.

Our fuel has dropped a little in price in the last few weeks. Diesel is down to £1.35 and petrol to £1.32 a litre or thereabouts.

Gas in our area is now at about $3.65 per gallon. But could be higher in some of the remote locations between here and the coast.

Complaints, complaints, complaints. At $1.30 Can. per litre we are paying $4.92 Can. per US gallon. And I ignored the fact that the Canadian $ is worth over 3¢ more than the US $ today which would add 15¢ to our total for the metric equivalent of the US gallon. $5.07 Can.!! Unless my math is faulty as usual. Just think of how much you could save if you drove coast to coast. Mickey

Gas costs currently approx. 7,12 USD per gallon in Austria, if I made no calculation error. That’s why many of the people here drive “clown cars” ( as Bob said ), like Fiat 500, Smart and so on. Have a pleasant trip, Wayne ! There is one question left: What does Ops mean ? My dictionary says: operation-room nurses MIK

Mickey
Your math wrong, never. Either that or we went to the same school. Lets just say it is close enough for government work.
Mik
I take Ops to mean operation/s as in military operations (Ops room) or also Opportunities/possibilities.

As opposed to photo oops, which would getting a shot of something you really shouldn't be taking a photo of . An operation - room nurse having a wardrobe malfunction ( another great phrase! ) would be a good example Doug

When I first saw the title I read it as oops. Ops normally stands for operations in my book - either military or medical. However, having read the thread opener I took it mean opportunities.
The mathematics are quite complicated. First we have a conversion from litres to gallons or vice versa. Of course we have to remember that an Imperial gallon is bigger than a US gallon. Then we have to convert one currency into another. The net result is that it is easier to go by push bike.

In my case photo oops would be more appropriate. I have had so many of them since I picked up my first camera that I deserve an oops gold medal. Mickey

Dave it is only as hard as you make it. We have for many years bought our gas by the litre and a US gallon is close enough to 3.8 litres for government work. Our dollar is slightly above par with the US dollar so it is fairly easy for us now. I still use miles per gallon (Imperial) to measure fuel economy just to drive my navigator crazy doing conversions in the fuel log on long trips. She thinks I am a sadist.
