Mickey, I did notice that when Samson walked by the men sucked in their gut and stood a bit straighter. I forgot to compliment Belgiumreporter's photos. Excellent street shots. What camera did you use? My old D70 can't match them either. Makes me want to get a new camera and get out and shoot. My compliments. David Something is wrong here. I can understand the men trying to hide their bulging bellies when Delilah passed them. But Samson Mickey P.S. Just curious. Was delilah carrying a scissors? M.O.

Its Mickey being Mickey.
Yes she had scissors, the bible says she cut off his hair, but scholars suspect it may have been something a little lower down. Of course the church couldn't mention his unmentionables, so like a lot of things, they changed the story to be more palatable to the sensitive souls who read it..

Mickey I think if yours got lopped off when you were in the prime of your life, you'd be weak as a kitten, and quite sensitive about it.

Phil, Wow! Am I lucky. I have just passed my prime of life. Now I talk of a great vintage and well aged. Van Extraordinaire. As far as I know the Old Testament had no qualms about mentioning unmentionable ocurrances. I am almost certain that an overzealous circumcision would have been somewhat noteworthy and newsworthy. I don't think if Delilah was going to cut of anything else than Herculeses hair she would have used a knife, unless she had scissors like these Let's get back on the streets, more street less gurning ?

Delilah was a cunning bugger, she betrayed Samson and if it was his his hair that was cut off by the group of Phillistines (not her, and probably with a knife). It may have been the fact that they gouged his eyes out and bound him in manacles that sapped him of his strength.
I think nuff said

But is it 666, or 616 as the earliest Greek biblical translations have it..... Stephen.

That depends on whether you use the Latin spelling or Greek spelling of Emperor Nero in Hebrew. (My Jesuit training comes back to me occassionally)
