I had a "Secret Sam" spy kit in 1965, an attache case with a break apart sniper rifle, and various accessories. But the greatest thing was a little box camera mounted in the corner, that could take photos from inside the case. From there I discovered my parents' Zeiss Ikon Contina II camera. It was stuffed in the back shelf of the hall closet. I opened the leather cover, and fell in love with that baby! I learned photography with that camera. And I've since replaced my Secret Sam outfit on ebay.

Last year I was averaging one camera a week from ebay. They were being delivered to where I work. Everyone there thinks I'm nuts, obsessed, a hoarder, a packrat, etc. I got most of the cameras on my wish-list through this process. But having seen Tony Kemplen's Flickr link, I've compiled a new wish list. One of the most elusive cameras I want, and Tony has, is the white Ilford Advocate . Whenever they come up on ebay the bidding goes way past my budget.

I have a similar camera, but probably not in good enough shape to put film in. Yours in very nice looking. But what is even better is that photo you took. Can you please tell me what the building is? I was just curious. But I admire that print very much!! Thanks for posting it.

I've been a macro shooter for many years. All of these shots are excellent! A bug in flight is a tough cookie to shoot. Very impressive. I once shot a series of macro bug shots, and he had a spider web strand across his back. I entered my photos in competition, and they were rejected for having scratches on them. Go figure!

Set the rat on your shelf and designate him as your mascot. That was a great story. I have a huge Marvin The Martian stuffed figure staring down on me from my bookshelf. We all have to have something like that in the room!

Hello Heath, You have a very nice collection. I especially love the Ensign, with the old roll of film to go with it! I love it when I can get the vintage film to go with the cameras. Eventually I will have my collection photographed and I can post it on this site. I just joined this week by the way. I was in Sydney, and Cairnes about 5 years ago. Most fantastic trip of my life!

This is Jim Henningsen here. I live in Michigan. I've been a photographer and avid camera collector for many years. I love every aspect of photography, but shooting is my passion, and collecting is my obsession. I joined this site so I'd have someone with similar interests to talk with . I have a large variety of cameras. My former "users" from my film days, are my Nikons, and large format cameras. But I love collecting anything vintage, as well as children's and novelty cameras. I'd like some advice on displaying my stuff. And in the future I hope to post some photos of my collection.
