Thanks for that, I have found out that it is a Ricoh Singlex with a different suit of clothes. I still think it is a pretty rare camera. I will do some more research tomorrow.

I have just purchased in a charity shop, a Sigma Mark 1 35mm SLR with a screw thread Sigma 39-80mm f 3.5 zoom lens. Ever ready case and instruction book. Plus other accessories. The camera body is a bit brassed, but appears to be in good working order. The lens is fairly clean, but rather wobbly around the external aperture ring area. It is a big heavy camera with an interesting textured finish to the pentaprism and grip area.
I have been interested in photography and cameras for over 50 years, (currently collecting old Konica and Yashica 35mm slr) but I have never seen one of these before and cannot remember ever seeing any advert for it. Looking around the internet, I have found out that it was made in 1975 ,but not much more. Any idea of value would be appreciated and any more information. My old 'What Camera' magazine from '79 shows the lens to be on sale separately at £88 with a YS mount. The camera is not listed at all.

I have obtained a copy of the full instructions for the LX7, 225 pages long printed on one side of A4 paper and loose bound. I am not very good with computers and digital gadgets, but I learned how to get the best out of my Nikon 3100 in a few days. My Canon digital compact is also easy to understand. The Lumix has an incredible lens and the low light and macro pictures are amazing but I doubt if I will ever use 5% of its overall capability because unless you have 10 minutes to set up the programs to suit every situation exactly, usually the moment has passed. They have even made deleting images too complicated. I really see no need to put so many variables into any camera. It took me two hours of reading just to find out why the flash was disabled in Program mode. As you say, just set and use program mode for nearly everything. (And why put video recording stuff into a stills camera?!)
Just bought a mint in box electronic viewfinder for the camera £120. Super piece of kit.

So far I have found that the shutter fires almost instantaneously, better than my Canon Powershot SX 110 IS. After one day of ploughing through the instructions and menus, I find that the operation is very confusing. (Settings). -try changing flash settings for example- But I suppose I'll get used to it.

Anyone else used a Panasonic LX 7 ?
Just bought a very low mileage one to use as an everyday camera. Main attractions, small size, that f1.4 Leica lens, also the ability to fit and use an optical viewfinder or later on, an electronic one. I have a Canon compact, but it is useless in bright daylight because of the lack of a 'proper' viewfinder.

Hello Lloydy,
The Tamron mount is on ebay at the moment as item 321321820042 the starting price is £2.99 with a buy it price of £6.00.
Last night I bought a Sigma 50mm f2.8 manual Macro lens (1:1) in mint condition. I am going to buy an adapter for that to fit my Nikon 3100. (Non AE non AF etc.) That cost me £25 but I still think it is a bargain because I am keeping it to use. R

In reference to my other posts, I am now looking for a Hexanon f1.7 50mm with an intact soft focusing ring . Perhaps an example with fungus or other internal problems. Or, just the ring, to save postage.

Just obtained a working Konica FP-1 with a nice clean 50mm f 1.8 lens for £6.And coming in the post - a Konica Autoreflex T3N! with a 50mm Lens. Seller says that the meter doesn't work, we will see...
Edit. The Konica T3 N has arrived with a very nice clear f1.7 Hexanon, the camera is clean and the winder, shutter/mirror assembly seems to work as it should and is very noisy as some reviews have noted. The battery compartment is clean and empty, I am not going to do anything about finding the right battery diode etc. as this one is just for the collection, nice contrast with the T3 and the other later Konica SLR and I think that it is a good buy at £14.50p......... However the focus ring is bare painted metal, the knurled ring has escaped somewhere, so now looking for a Konica f1.7 Hexanon AR with internal problems but a nice focusing grip! This was obvious in the picture on the listing and I missed it. I would have bought it anyway...........

Thank you for that, the fault is definitely not on the mirror as I can see that it does not move as the mirror rises. I will not be having a repair done as the camera only cost me £4.99 and is mainly as a collectable to go with the other Konica SLRs that I have. (The rest of the camera and lens are in almost as new condition.)

I have just bought, off ebay a very nice Konica FP-1 and Hexanon lens. The fault, which the seller had pointed out is two vertical lines in the viewfinder.
These can be brought into focus with the eye about 2" from the viewfinder, they are not visible when looking into the throat of the lens mount.
They are small, one above the other in the centre of the field of view, slightly blue in colour with rounded ends. I have never seen anything like it before. The only thing that I can think of is something in or on the centre line (peak) of the pentaprism. Corrosion perhaps. It does not interfere with the operation of the camera!

Bought the above on ebay for £5.99, supposed to be a good budget lens. Described as mint. When it arrived there was a mark about 2mm x 2mm on the glass in the centre just inside the front element. Looking from the rear there was a very light covering of fungus visible over all of another surface, so back to the seller it went.

I have been considering buying the above lens for my new Nikon. I thought that they were around £140, so started looking into buying a good used one from ebay or Amazon. Then when I really started investigating, I found new ones for sale from apparently reputable U.K. sources for as little as £86. It seems that even the big distributors/warehouses are getting their prices down to around £110.
Strange then that they regularly sell on ebay used at around £90 and there are still used ones advertised that people are hanging on to try to sell for at £110. I wouldn't now pay more than £55 for a used one in original box with no signs of use.
A used 50mm f 1.8 D AF sold on ebay in the last few hours for £101 ! Madness.

Why is It I cannot refuse a bargain? Saw a Sigma f4.5 -6.7 DL Canon Autofocus fit 100-300mm zoom lens on ebay, locally. Made a small bid on it and won it for £1.20. Nice clean, smooth lens. Now all I need is a camera to go with it! (And there seems to be a lot of those around at low prices!)
Edit, just bought a working Canon EOS 3000n body for £4.99p, all works perfectly.
