I have just received my second Konica FC-1. This was described as not working / for spares. The viewfinder was said to be 'blurry'. As it had a 200mm f4 Hexanon lens I thought it worth a bid of £5 as it may have had a stuck mirror or no battery and I was willing to take the chance for the sake of the lens. The viewfinder is fine, I think the seller was expecting it to 'autofocus'!
It turns out that the body is a little bit worn on the base and grubby but the shutter sounds fine, the exposure system seems to be OK and the wind-on is extremely positive and smooth. Not as nice as my other FC-1 so it will probably be recycled into ebay.
Now we come to the lens, after a clean of the front and rear elements I can see slight traces of fungus, around the border, probably on the back of the front element. I think I will have to keep it and try the lens out and see how it performs.

Just collected a Konica EE-Matic DeLuxe from a buyer, was sold for charity. Nice tidy camera with a good case and scruffy original box appears to work OK. Found that there is a partly exposed Kodak film in it. Now, the only thing I can do with the film is to dispose of it because I have no way of knowing what might be on it!
Also waiting for a Konica FC-1 from Ebay for £5 described as not working, but it has a Konica Hexanon 100mm lens fitted. Could be interesting, especially as I suspect it might be a battery problem. In any case I have a good FC-1 so the next one will be kept for spares. Also bought a new unused Tamrac 5515 SLR pouch for £0.99p.

This is a keeper, for use with my new DSLR. £25

I bought a Yashica 230 AF body very cheap as a non- runner hoping that possibly the seller had been mistaken. Unfortunately the body works, for focusing but the wind-on and shutter don't work. Strange that the bodies of the AF series are so plasticky looking and poor whilst the AF lenses look and feel so good. I assume it was the takeover by Kyocera that made the difference in a negative way.

Not an eBay buy, but I went to my local car boot sale, where I sometimes pick up a few nice items. Looked at a Minolta XG 1 with a lens, offered £2 and that was accepted. Took it home, body is ok - minus, fitted new batteries and to no surprise it is not in working order. The mirror sticks half way up when releasing the shutter button. But the shutter and mirror combination does work intermittently when using the self-timer! So that is off to eBay for spares/repairs. The good news is that the f 2 Minolta MD lens is in quite good condition.
Several hours later, I have gone back to the camera and operated the shutter a few times with the self timer and it now works consistently on the shutter release button! But the led's still don't light up, so it is going off to auction!
Latest! Sold both for £9.50.

Thank you. Doug. Will be looking for a FP-1, but not urgently, I have just bought a DSLR and need to get used to that.

i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww289/ric871/KonicacollectionEdited_zpsa4d4fb43.jpgMy collection of Konica SLR. Tried to get the picture size down to a manageable level in Photoshop. But still cannot attach it. The T3 is quite good, looks nicely used, the FS-1 is quite nice cosmetically, does work but erratically, the FC-1 is good+ and works fine, the Autoreflex TC is absolutely Mint++ including the 40mm lens. The FT-1 is very good, clean nice to use. All the lenses are good. The most I paid was for the TC. The least the FS-1.

I have recently collected a number of different manual Yashica C/Y bodies and lenses. I have tried to find out if the autofocus lenses definitely cannot be fitted to these bodies. The answer from most authorities seems to be that they cannot. But I am not completely clear on this. Also are there any adaptors to fit them to any make of digital camera without problems? Again, difficult to find out.

Went along to my camera club last week, a friend had two nice clean lenses marked Yashica in a case, didn't know what they fitted to, so I told him that they fitted on the front of the Electro 35. As I have a really good clean chrome example I took it to the club and showed him. Result, I now have a 'wide' angle and 'telephoto' attachment. Might even get the viewfinder if he finds it! Interested to see how they perform.

I could put this on the ebay bargains page, but I bought a Nikon D3100, mint condition with 361 shutter actuations, the kit lens plus a Tamron 70-300 zoom, a battery grip with two Nikon batteries installed, 16 Gb card, screen protector nice camera bag, charger, all documents, and discs and a sturdy tripod. For around the new price of the Body and the 18-55 kit lens on its own. Not the ultimate, ultimate bargain, but everything is as new with not a mark on it. I have been using it and it is fine, I shot off about 20 exposures in a few seconds of a bee walking around the top of a flower. 2 acceptable pictures, couldn't do that with any of my film cameras. A real bargain?

After a lot of deliberation I decided that I needed a DSLR after spending an afternoon trying to take pictures of a watersports event on a local beach in strong sunshine with a digital compact. Total guesswork. So have invested in a Nikon D3100 with some extra bits.

The only Canon I have ever owned is the AE1 bought new in 1976 by my brother who passed away in 1979. This camera I used continually until about 1986 when I changed over to Autofocus. I still have the Canon and it will never be sold.
Before I bought my first autofocus SLR I had an insurance mature and I had £2100 to spend on a camera outfit so I attended a camera show, at the Canon stand there were no representatives at the counter, they were all in the back room drinking coffee. I waited and waited but nobody came out, so I went over the other side of the show and bought a Minolta 9000 outfit. Those were very expensive coffees, Canon guys!

The T3 arrived this morning, not mint, not particularly clean, but there are no dents or missing paint and it seems to work OK. Feels like an old Nikon. Solid and the mechanics feel smooth, the f 1.7 lens is clean, smart, with a good Toshiba filter and looks great. So it is a keeper. Not bad for £6.50. The autowind is mint and the Adaptall good.
