No, not a typo. A Miranda Sensorex serial 720771 arrived this morning. Below the wind-on lever is the serial number and the words Miranda Camera Japa, the 'n' was never there. I remember seeing something about this in the distant past, not particularly rare I suppose?

I have just found two more bodies with stencilled numbers. Out of 7. Both silver. A Miranda Sensomat RE with 5306 and.... A Soligor TM with 1410. What that denotes I have no idea.

Just arrived from the auction site. A Black Miranda RE-2 with f1.8 Auto Miranda lens 50mm in very nice condition. The seller admitted to a slight amout of fungus in the lens but it is very hard to see. The body is vey good with a few small touches of brassing, nothing too bad, no dents.. The exposure meter sort of registers, the needle moves erratically and I wouldn't trust it - and the shutter speeds seem about right. My first black Miranda. I can find no serial number on the body, but the number 1502 is stencilled inside the film compartment in a dark ink. Is that significant?

To continue the conversation. My first SplashArt device was for Nikon and Canon cameras. I use a Sony a7 and the shutter would not synchronise with the drops and flash, so I was discarding about 10% of my output. I have just ordered another new SplashArt because it is calibrated for Sony, also I am still in self isolation for until who knows when and I like the results.

I don't think that I will be using the EOS 1n. I nearly bought one when I wanted to change from my Canon AE-1. I went off Canon when I turned up at a camera show with £2000 to spend on a new AF system & the Canon 'sales persons' could not tear themselves away from their coffees! I turned round & bought a Minolta 9000 af, a 35-105 excellent lens and a couple of extra lenses off the stall behind me. Very pleased with the Minolta (now sold) and that used AA batteries with a slide-in holder.I also have a Canon EOS RT for show and I find the battery set-up very strange on that as well. If I go out with a film camera I still have my AE-1 from 1980 and have used my Olympus OM-1 but prefer the Nikon FM2, all MF..................
Final comment on the Canon EOS 1 n, I have just sold it on at a modest profit. Even if by some miracle it suddenly worked properly I could never have got on with it!
In regards to battery access, I see that some of the Leica digital cameras have no flap or 'hidden' batteries, the base of the battery acts as the cap to the compartment.

Thanks. If the Canon doesn't AF I will still be very happy. The journey through the post often has a good outcome!
The camera arrived in good order, looks like it has had light amateur use. I cannot make out what is wrong with the auto focusing, it just runs back & forth between close & far. I have tried a lot of different combination of buttons and studied the instructions, including resetting everything. I have only one lens to fit it and that is nearly new so it isn't that. There is no error message so I don't think it is far away from being OK. It is obviously a very strong pro camera with lots of potential.
What I think strange about it is the battery hidden away behind a door inside the grip which has to be removed with a coin, why not just a flap? Also the tiny awkward on/off lock switch. Far prefer the Nikon set up.

Just bought a Canon EOS 1n with box and instructions off ebay. £35.......... the auto focus is said to not work, worth a look, I used manual focus for 30 years before af came in so it is not a problem for me 90% of the time.

Just bought from the popular auction site. A Soligor SR 200 PK 35mm SLR with original box and instruction book. Appears to have been made in China by Seagull. Has a Pentax PK mount. I will have a good look when it arrives but appears to be fairly rare.
The camera arrived this morning. Very clean and everything works. It is very light, lens mount is metal on the body & lens, the lens is marked Soligor 50mm 1 :1.7 serial 7050495 and there is a 'Passed China' sticker on the base of the body. Not bad for £15.70p
It appears very similar to but not identical with a Cosina CT-1A. (The top plate is shallower for one thing.)

I recently bid for and won a Miranda Sensomat RE with a 50mm f 1.8 Miranda lens plus a Soligor 28mm f2.8 lens to fit, waist level viewfinder and a separate flash bracket all in extremely good, clean condition, the exposure meter works as well. Good value at £45
Just arrived through the post, two manuals for the Sensomat - seller found them in his loft. What a great bloke.

What I remember about the Viceroy was that when getting the engine running I found that it had reed valve induction and that the ignition points were easy to replace, they were exactly the same as the Austin Mini's. Various sources state that either 214 or 600 were built, but some were scrapped because the engines were a good shape to power sport hovercraft!

I have had a number of Rolleiflex SL 35 of various descriptions. (See my previous posts). I did a comparison of the base internals of the German built ones with the Singapore versions. The mechanism of the Singapore ones, at least the cameras with the rounded pentaprism top is complely different to the original German one. I asked the question somewhere on the web if the Singapore ones were based on a Cosina (or similar) design, somebody must know. I have probably had six black topped Singapore SL36 variants and none have worked properly, all have had failures in the shutter & mirror area. They have all been sold as spares/repairs or are in a box in my garage. Antonio, you do not say which version your SL35 is. If it is a German built one I would say that it is worth finding a repair workshop that will fix it especially if the lenses are clean & functioning.

I missed out some of the bikes I owned such as a Suzuki TS 125 trail bike, a new MZ 250 and a Greeves 197 Scottish. The rarest bike I actually owned and rode was a Velocette Viceroy which was abandoned in somebody's garden and I bought for £30 and was restoring it. More of a scooter, but it was a 250cc boxer twin with big wheels. Had to be sold, with the Honda 400/4 due to a divorce.

Thank you for the information. The Miranda Sensomat RS arrived today by courier. I have checked it over and it looks as if it just came out of the factory. Lens clean, viewfinder clean, no knocks at all. The only defect I can find is a very slight ripple in one of the shutter blinds. I am delighted with it.

That looks good and obviously rare. My Rollop is a Richard Reflex, basically a standard Rollop sold by a distributor or shop in Switzerland. I bought this one from a Polish seller because it has my christian name on the front.
