I recently took the panasonic DMC-TZ60 along on one of my travels. These travel compacts give good results for holiday snap shots, but on close inspection the quality of the image isn't comparable to full frame dsl'r shots (what did you expect? ) still when not wanting to carry much weight any camera is better than no camera. Here's a shot with the TZ-60 at the 536mm setting:

With some cautious use of its big rewind handle i may be able to get a film partially exposed (Ilford XP) in order to compare its Tessar with a Color Skopar on a VitoB, an early F2 Ektar on an old Retina as well as the Ultron and Nokton on a Prominent.. All with just one scanning operation but beyond keeping strict control of numbers, possibly needing darkroom bag fiddling if the cartridge swallows the film end. p. p. Not waisting any film when testing different cameras is allways a bit of a problem. These days as far as lenses are concerned mirrorless cameras are a blessing as they are suited to adapt allmost any lens on so you don't need to waist any film. The problem comes with lenses for wich no adapters exist so when you want to test them you're forced to use them on the film bodies to wich they belong. Currently I find it difficult to buy an expensive exacta/ topcon to Z mount adapter to test some of my topcon lenses of wich I am sure, after testing, I will never use them again. So the alternative will be to use them on the Topcon super Dm with some fine grain film. The next problem is finding usefull subjects wich will be worthy of photographing and suitable to bring out the best or worst of the lens on test (brick walls get boring very fast 😄 ) so be kind and rewind, to try to use the film in different bodies, in most cases no 36 shots are needed to evaluate one camera or lens. This goes for 35mm 120 is somewhat more complicated.

I've started the Lytro light field camera up again (after all these years) because I now finally found decent software to process the files. A brief test shows what the light field technology is capable off. This is one shot wich I processed using different apertures and focus points. Keep in mind all this info is contained in just one RAW file and can be extracted using the Lytro post processing software. The Lytro technology amazing as it might have been, never catched on and now it will become a foot note in camera history. The red hot (that's its official name) is a weird "camera" to say the least, unlike anything else!

It has been some time since I've been on the forum as I've been travelling a lot. Still I was able to buy some camera's here and there and this is what I've found: A very nice Canon VT, I've put on a jupiter 8 just to close the body up but in due time this will be replaced with some Canon glass: Next is this Topcon RE super with the desirable Topcor 1:1.4 f58mm the latch wich holds the prism in place is damaged but I've got a solution for that. Then there's another Pentax LX, it's got a slight case of the sticky mirror syndrome, but nothing that can't be fixed. To complete the Hasselblad 500 series I've found this 500 EL/X, wich works fine but the lens won't lock so there'se another one I'll have to put some attention to. And the last (for now ) is this yellow silicone skin for my Z6 wich makes it look like a submarine camera

While travelling I allways try to get to the lighthouses scattered around the world, many of them not being all that spectacular but still worth a "shot"
here's another one, the ruins of the malmok lighthouse at the slagbaai national park ( also Bonaire)

I recently bought yet another Topcon RE Super, after some research it became clear that it's a type 4. Now the type 4 is easy distinguisable from the 1-2 and 3 because of some design changes: the RE super inscription moved fro the right to the left side of the body, the back plate of the shutter button and self timer is line engraved on the type4 the serial number is on top of the left shoulder on type 1-2-3 while it is right on the back together with the Tokyo Kogaku inscription at the back on the right side of the prism and a few other minor details... Now while everything's easy in recognising the type 4, I am unable to tell the 1-2-3's apart. The most I could find on them is on the Topcon club site but this is in Japanese wich I sadly can't read or translate. So my question is: do any of you know what the difference is between the types 1-2 and 3???

This well used F3 P just came to join the collection. The P's are specially made for press and rugged enviroments. It differs from the "normal" F3 that it hasn't got a self timer, double exposure switch, no automatic 1/80thsec for the first frames of a roll of film and a few other minor things, it does have a flash shoe on top of the (titanium) prism, extra seals for weather and dust protection and a small round window with frame counter on top of the body next to the winding lever. It came with the "B" type focussing screen wich I really don't like, but on the plus side despite its appearance everything works just fine even the metering LCD hasn't got any bleeding (wich is rather common on F3's) Maybe I'll try it out with some film one of these days, but I still have to shoot the major part of the roll wich is in the Leica M4....

The baby grey rolleiflex 4x4 has been for a long time on my to buy list. Now I finally found one in good condition for the right price, so I didn't hold back and bought it. It will be the final piece in the 4x4 collection.

I believe that I actually visited that place about 15 years ago, IIRC it is in a gallery downtown. That should be the one, it's down a very long shopping street. We had great pancakes and icecream there as well. I've looked it up it's in the Monserrat district , Humberto 1St , Plaza Dorrego.

Somewhere on Route 54 shot with the panasonic DMC TZ-60. I was amazed how good the B&W comes out of this camera. The subject helps but this is just one of those shots of wich I wonder why I (in some cases) should bother with B&W film anymore

Here's one I've forgot from when I was in a "mercada" somewhere in Buenos Aires (buenos Aires is BIG) I've just read the request to not make the published images larger than 640pixels to not overload the site with data, so from now on 640pixels it is.

On my third visit to Iceland i've found another small photoshop. This time in the charming litle town of Borganes. Furthermore i've noticed that in most small villages there would allways be a photographer offering his (or her) services in documenting your stay in Iceland.
