No problems with that Ron. You have a skilfull and workmanlike team. As it happens, one of our keepers is injured. so I thought the decision to leave Green on the field was a good one. Rather than destroy his confidence it boosted it - and he made a good save in the second half.

The funniest thing of all in the build-up to the WC was the Argentina manager, Diego Maradona, appealing to everybody for fair play. Fair play? His infamous 'Hand of God' goal will be remembered forever as the most perfidious piece of deception since Pearl Harbour!

ps Peter - Joe Hart...

The trouble was he, Diego, then scored that wonder goal where he dribbled round the entire England team twice without one of them getting anywhere near him.

You're missing the point Dave - if the 'hand of God' goal had been disallowed it would have gone to penalties, and we'd undoubtedly have gone on to win the final against Germany as a result...
Regards - John
ps The second goal wasn't that good - he only went past six defenders (admittedly a couple of them twice)....

I've seen worse goalkeeping ... but it was so long ago I can't remember when. Where are the successors to Peter Shilton, Ray Clemence, David Seaman, Gordon Banks ... ? PeterW The US keeper did a remarkable job keeping England out of the nets. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same for most of the rest of the USA team (with the possible exception of Landon Donovan). No good passing, and standing around like statues won't get them very far, I'm afraid.

Ron,
The two you mention played for Everton last season. The papers here seemed to give them the top marks in the game.

I read that these strange trumpets are as loud as an emergency sirene ( 120 - 130 db ! ) A lot to do for the ontologists...

Mexico's victory was well deserved, and one of the better games so far. I'm off to France on Monday so it's looking that they won't be watching too much more of the world cup over there........unless.......

Mickey, for a change the 'musical' instruments were frequently drowned out by the fans singing. Makes a refreshing change.
