The adapter on my bellows is an official Minolta one - the 'P-adapter'. Came in a bag of stuff, It works on infinity so I can give my Russian lenses a go every now and then on the Minoltas. I only have one M42 body - a Praktica LTL3 Can you clarify that when using the Minolta bellows (on what camera?) you can focus to infinity using your M42 lenses? Of course if you need more magnification than bellows system, you can use a microscope instead.

Then, as far as Minolta naming models, you have the Japanese name, the European name and the US name. As I recall US XD-11's were XD-7's in Europe and XD's in Japan. Wasn't the XF one of the professional models? As I recall, Minolta produced two, substantially identical, but one had a motorized advance. I could be wrong on that. Dave I think you mean the X-1, XM & XK series instead of XF.

Thanks! My next most comprehensive viewfinder setup is on the Minolta XK. See Rokkorfiles XK viewfindersI found the waistlevel and high magnification via local CL ad for a box of accessories like filters and such. In the tiny pic in the ad I thought I could make out a viewfinder so I arranged to buy the box of stuff. When I got the box, I saw not one but two XK viewfinders with their original boxes still wrapped!

I would like to post some photos of some of my collection. Funny thing is I cant upload any on here. How do I upload photos? I need some help with this. You have to have a host (fototime, flickr, others) with the ability to provide links to your photos first. After you have uploaded your image and assigned a link to it, then you simply click the "insert image" icon and then enter your weblink to the image in the dialog box.

That is another accessory that is new to me! Also, it was just recently brought to my attention that there is an M42 to MD adapter.

The Minolta XE-7 has the smoothest full stroke film advance of any of my cameras! Minoltas generally have a very effortless stroke to begin with but the XE-7 is just sublime and has to be experienced IMO. Of course the downside of using the XE-7 is that it will make you wonder if your other cameras require service . . .

When I became a member of this site about a year ago I only had one old camera, Minolta SRT SC-II. Since then I have gotten more. So I will list some of my collection. Not all are SLR's but still nice cameras. I just hope I am collecting some good ones. I will add photos soon and give more info on each.
Minolta SRT SC-II 1977, free Minolta SRT 101 (black knob) 1968, $12.00 Minolta SR 101 (SRT 201) 1975-77,on it's way(-:, $18.10 Minolta SR 1 1963,free Agfa Ambi Silette 1961, broken)-: $5.00 Ansco Memar (Agfa Silette) 1953-54, free Graflex Century 35A,free Prices definitely looks good and if they are in good working order then I would say they are good ones! The Minolta SR/SRT series were typical of the era - robust and reliable shooters. Minolta lenses are probably the most underrated of the big 4 - Canon, Minolta, Nikon and Pentax. This link showing the timeline might be of interest if you didn't already know - Minolta SLR's vs. Canon, Nikon & Pentax

I cannot say I even noticed that there was an SR101 as all I have ever seen have been the SRT101 so I would like to think it would be rare. But then the US$ to Japanese Yen during that time was greatly in favor of the US$ and US service folks got heavily discounted camera gear from the base exchange so there is good possibility many were brought back statesidee.

It does take awhile to take and post these types of pictures . . . I pushed the shutter at about 9pm and the Pentax LX aperture priority autoexposure ended sometime after 4am . . .
