Randy,
I've got to say, when I collected Minoltas I looked high and low for a "deal" on an SRT Super but never had the pleasure... I had some odd ones (SRT 303b, SRTSCII, etc...) but never that one I wanted.
Nice stealth cameras, all!

The USA / Slovenia tie was a heart breaker, but we should count our blessings, take the draw, and keep playing hard. The coach showed a lot of dignity by intervening yet accepting the verdict. I doubt that referee will be officiating much more though...
Netherlands is looking fantastic, as usual!

Dave - is the shutter release on the 'front' of your Topcon? I'm not familiar with these but I can't see one on the winder or near the control knob. That silver button on the front looks like a threaded shutter release. Mark

I got a chance to shoot with a borrowed chrome ME Super while spending a summer in Mexico back in 1986. Great little camera.

I wonder if you could strip off the old rubber grip and replace it with a custom strip of black leather or leatherette?

I use depth of field preview to stop down my old non-AI Nikkors (for example when using the F3 with an old non-AI) to get a proper meter reading, but that's about it.
My favorite depth of field button is on the old SRTs: it must be the easiest one to use ever. That, and some of them had the ability to lock in or out.
Take care! Mark

What took a platoon of Japanese technicians to to build in day back in 1978 took me roughly 2 hours to undo. I still couldn't get all the screws out... Really though, it's been a treasure trove of parts! Replaced the back on a worn out FM. Used screws to repair wife's Cannon Digital Elph. Scavenged the battery box for an other FM. Will replace the F-Mount on an older body with this seemingly new one. Anyone need a nice top or bottom cover?

I have been looking around for a DSLR and find that most sellers list a count of "Shutter Actuations". One camera was listed as, "...mint, but does have heavy use - 5000 shutter actuations". Others point out how low their number is like the odometer on a car.
Does this sound a bit wimpy to you? I have over 9000 digital pictures in my hard drive from two cameras - can I expect a shutter failure soon?
My old F2 has well over 150,000 "shutter actuations" that I know of and it's just getting broken in.
I know that the viable shelf life is short and that digital cameras go obsolete quickly, but can anyone offer any insight into recent reliability trends of DSLR shutters?
Thanks, Mark

Mickey, All - Great idea, and I'll go first: My oldest SLR in the collection is: Nikon F/FTN, SN 7313940, making it about a 1972 or 73 model. I bought it from a guy in Montreal. My FTN meter works! Camera needs a good cleaning though, as the speeds below 1/8 sec are no longer accurate. Need I say more about the 50mm, f2...love it. Who's next? Mark

Ron,
Your bi-focals aren't polarized are they? The polarized glass in eyewear - especially Ray-Ban's version of it - will often cause cell phone screens, camera LCD screens, and the glass faces on aircraft instruments (incidentally) to blur and show some artifact. As a private pilot, I use standard lenses and it solves the problem instantly - and I saved a few bucks not having to pay for polarized glass!

Hey! I've not posted in a while - I lost my little digital camera (found it), and took a lot of time off work to travel. Got a few more Nikons for the collection: FM in OK shape with an MD-11 that actually works! This one will become an everyday shooter for me. FG-20 - not terribly special, but it does help to round out the collection of MF Nikon SLRs. Would really like to find a RARE black version of this camera. Any sellers? Nikon EM - like new! That's an MD-14 motor drive on it. Nikkormat FT2 - got this one in Portland, OR for $35 with a lens. Not much wear and everything works. This FE2 was dropped and landed on the flash unit. The ISO hot shoe is now loose and it also has a small dent. It works though. May replace it with a dandy if I come across one... FINALLY! An FA! I bought this one from a guy headed into the Grapevine, TX Camera Show this past Saturday morning. He was broke and needed the money and was on his way to the KEH table to sell it. I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck (before he could give the thing away) and I gave him a fair price since it appears to be near mint. I'm still looking for an FE, FT3, FS, FT, and EL-W. Take care, Mark

Nikon F2AS Titan Data with MD-100 10fps drive and Bulk Film Magazine. I'll need help lifting it though.

This might be a fun Christmas present. Has anyone heard any updates about that possible European Polaroid revival?

Wayne,
Not only are these great photos, but they have "Sasquatch sighting" written all over them.
Take care, Mark
