Felixkh,
Welcome aboard. Looks like you're well on the way to a Pentax monopoly. I collect Nikons and Minoltas, but am looking seriously at Ricohs and Mamiyas as well.
Take care! Mark

Curt - I would love to peruse a categorized list of your collection. That is huge! Do yo have a list posted anywhere?
I would tell you that I just placed an Ebay bid on an EL (with Nikkor) today, but then I figure I might get some earnest bidding competition, so I won't. Oops.

BTW, Curt:
Holy cow, man. 18 + 12 fixer cameras this month? To put this into perspective - I have but 23 cameras in my entire collection!
I just got the Minolta Maxxum 5000 and the Nikon FM2 this month. You'd have been bored to death!

Ron, I really enjoyed your Mamiya website - a fantastic reference. Today I met a Craigslist seller to check out her Nikon FM and in the bag beside it was a M/S 1000 DTL. She wanted an extra $75 for it. Both cameras were dirty and banged up so I didn't purchase either of them, but it got me interested in the Mamiyas - a brand I know ZERO about. Couldn't even tell you where they were made before I scoured your site. On a funny note: "someone" had jammed the lens onto that Nikon FM almost upsite down. Not sure how they got it to mate up at all, and it appeared to scrape the mount pretty badly. I just chuckled to myself, worked the lens off gently and mounted it up properly for the seller, showing them how the dots are to line up. Thanks for the great history lesson on Mamiyas. The price point on these cameras right now are such that I might go ahead and start collecting them myself. Not holding out for a Sketch any time soon though... Best regards, Mark

From Craigslist/Dallas today: This is an F3 kit on steroids - all for a cool $1000. dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pho/1349967440.html - AD LINK i27.tinypic.com/2nb7oqo.jpg - PICTURE Imagine how you'd look at the next camera show or event with this baby around your neck (if it doesn't first break your neck)! Any takers? I'll be happy to pick it up and ship it to you. Mark

I know Roy - I'm the same way with Canon's: I don't have any, and see a lot for sale, but to start down that trail would roll me out of the good graces of my wife in no time! I could go crazy with it!
When I was a kid we had an A-1 and an AE-1 program in the house. We sent them both in to a shop in New Braunfels, TX for repairs and the repair center LOST them both (!) so the shop awarded us a then-new Ricoh XR-P Multi Program with motor drive and zoom for our troubles. LOVED that Ricoh and wouldn't mind collecting them either...
My wife pretends not to notice another Nikon or Minolta on the shelf though!

Right on, Roy - free cameras!
What model is the Minolta? Is that a Hi-Matic 7 or 7s or the likes? Might be easy to find a replacement top cover and winder for it. Nice little cameras. I must say, I think I like your Olympus the best of the lot. They made some neat cameras back then and I wouldn't mind collecting a few of them.
A friend just gave me an OM-1 & OM-2, so it may kick off an Olympus binge!

Keep combing Craigslist: some shmo (read: kid who inherited it and needs cash, or wife cleaning out a closet) will eventually let an FM3A go for $150 with that fancy chrome 45mm pancake lens! That really is a fine camera and "the Force" tells me that mine is coming soon.
Meanwhile there's a very nice FM posted in the Dallas area today with an old zoom (38-76mm, I think - or something like that) for $125 now. Tempting, since my FE hopeful was D.O.A. and is now a cool looking paper weight / practice-taking-me-apart toy.
Have a great weekend all.

I did not test the FM2 yet - instead I took my daughter out "shooting" - her with her X-700 (she's 7 years old) and I with an already-loaded Nikon EL2, and later the F3 with fresh batteries. But, I DID enjoy the lenses. Fun day. FM2 tomorrow maybe. We live 2 blocks from a Walgreens so prints & CDs are easy to be had.

The similarities to the later F-102 Delta Dagger and the F-106 Delta Dart are uncanny. The 50's & 60's were a great time for cameras and planes! My all time favorite is the F-104 Starfighter.

Thanks, Bob -
I intend on running a roll through it this afternoon. This model is in the 737xxxx SN range and still has the titanium shutter (newer FM2n's had an aluminum shutter that was touted as being a superior design altogether. Any FM2 sent in for shutter service will get aluminum replacement blades according to Nikon USA). I'm looking around for an MD-12 in good condition now. I was "afraid" to slide the speedlight onto the body - I didn't want to put the tiny tell-tale scrapes on the hotshoe contacts just yet! I need to get over it... it's not like I found a '57 Chevy in some guy's barn or anything. But when you dream of owning one since about 1984...
Take care, Mark

You're right - Bombardier (not Canadiar)... The Dash is such remarkably solid airframe. I used to fly all over the US Pacific NW on Alaska Airlines at all times of the year and developed a great deal of faith in how strong they were. I am a pilot with hundreds of hours in smaller types and thought that, if I hit it BIG one day, the corporate jet would always take second place to my personal Dash 8.
Canadian aviation has a LOT to be proud of from the likes of DeHavilland, Canadair, and now Bombardier and others. Heck - I am still hoping that they find the one and only flyable Avro CF-105 Arrow hidden in a barn up in the NW Territories! (Are you privy to that legend?)

Friends, I call you friends, because no one I 'actually' know in person would ever understand the excitement here... This is another Craigslist find and quite possibly my luckiest day as a collector yet: Today I got my first FM2n, black - new in the box. Nikkor 50mm f1.8 - new in the box. Zoom Nikkor 35-105mm f3.5-4.5 - new in the box. None of this gear had ever been used and this kind bloke let it all go for $200. The 1986 price tags are still on the boxes: FM2 was $455, the 50mm was $107.50, and the Zoom was $250 - all purchased at a place called Barry's I was so excited that I found it hard not to just yell!
