Hi All! We went to the local indoor flea market yesterday, and I found an old Argus Seventy-Five to play with for 5 bucks. I didn't bother to try and get it cheaper because I wasn't in the mood. You might ask, why I wasn't in the mood (or not ), well, it was because I'd just found something else that made me very happy! I found an A.T.Cross fountain pen, in deep purple enamel, mint unused condition, in a bag of old pencils (I also collect old writing instruments) for the sum of 25 cents US 25 cents!! I asked the seller if he knew what it was. He said yes, an old fountain pen. "People don't use those anymore, I just want to get rid of it." It's a beautiful pen, and I'll post a photo of it if anyone is interested. Doug BTW, Yes I still write cursive, and use them all the time.

Since I began collecting these, I find that I am forced to collect old computer hard and software as well. I recently traded a monitor for a Compaq running Windows 98; it has a floppy drive that I can use for the old Mavicas. They basically give old computers away at the local yard sales and flea markets Doug

Hi All! I got these a while back, and decided that it's high time I started working on them. I haven't quite decided yet, but I think I'll do the one with no cover in red. Doug

Hi All! I was cleaning our church, the same one in the first photo, and some of the candles on a window ledge caught my eye. I wanted to see how close I could get, and I have to say that I got within 3 feet. I got closer at one point, but the distortion was a bit too much. My photo was cropped and resized. No other manipulation was needed. Feel free to critique More on the way! Doug

Mickey, According to the manual, it's just called "the viewfinder". I guess that will have to do. I might play around with it today as it's COLD outside and I don't have anything better to do. Doug BTW, you've got a very entertaining mayor up there. He makes me smile

Hi Mickey!
I just called it a ground glass because I couldn't think of the right word.

Hi Phil! Here's one of the set-ups I use the most. The length of the hood is the distance from the base of your lens to the surface of the tlr groundglass. You have to have your digital set on macro. I used black foam board from a dollar store, and lots of black library tape to make it light tight. You are actually focusing on the viewfinder, and not the scene itself. I've got a Brownie Starflex that's another of my favorites The cats name is Gracie Puddlepaws. Doug

I've started buying up old digital cameras whenever I find one. I found this one at a local thrift store for a whopping 5 dollars! It's a Polaroid PDC 700 with a 5mm/f3.5 macro lens! 810k pixels!! I've tested it, and it works great. Somewhere around here, I've got some old Polaroid Photomax Software. Lately it seems as though whenever I find a film camera, they want WAYYYYY too much for it, even the lowly point & shoots are going up in price. I don't know how many times I've been told that "All film cameras are collectible. They don't make them any more." Old digitals are going for peanuts now! Doug

Hi All! We've got a major snow event moving in, 1 to 2 feet by tomorrow morning. Here in upstate New York, if the car starts to slide while we're driving, we very carefully place our coffee in the cupholder (don't want it to spill!), and get ready for some real fun Doug BTW, if anyone is interested, I've found a nice piece of music titled "Snowfall" by Claude Thornhill from 1941. I'll post it if anyone would like to see it.

I had a Commodore 64 as well, but my first computer was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. I was living in Germany at the time, and a friend of mine was selling them.
