I have something very similar but it's a Kodak sign.

I have one like it. Mine is serial number 1952 and it came with a 45mm f2.8 Super Rokkor lens. My shutter curtains are also in poor condition.

The Nikon 990 was my first real digital and I made thousands of 3 megapixel images with it and several of those pictures were printed at 11x14 and hang framed around the house. I actually have 3 of them now and occasionally use one just to see what it can still do.

I got myself a 'new' Kodak instant camera today. It's a Trimprint 940, but not a regular one. This one is made of clear plastic so you can see the inner workings. I previously had a Pentax auto 110 slr in clear. I was wondering how many models of cameras were made like this and how rare they are. Also what are they called. I searched Google for clear cameras and demonstrators and got only one hit, a couple of Kodak instants were auctioned off in 2010 for over $1500.11

Although I had a Sony Mavica and a Fujifilm MX700 before ,my first real digital camera was the Nikon 990 that I paid $900 for in 2000. That camera made a lot of pictures for me and I still have 50 or so of them printed at 11x14 or bigger and many of them framed. It was great at closeups. Many a bug or tiny flower posed for me then.

Of course each person has their own idea of what is the best camera for them. No one can tell you what you should buy but we can all let you know what we like. I have several digital cameras and each one has it's good and bad points. Presently my favorite of the bunch is my Panasonic GX85. I bought mine with the 12-32 zoom, but I already have a few other 4/3 lenses to use on it. It's not too expensive and has all the adjustments I would ever use and I am well pleased with it's and my output.

I will be interested on your results.I too have several lens adapters for 4/3 but only have a few other lenses to try out. I have screw mount Leica and Pentax and bayonet mount Canon, Nikon, and Olympus OM lenses.

I have both the Fujifilm W1 and the later model W3 3D cameras and love them. I use them regularly. I also have 3 other cheaper 3D digital cameras that I tried once and sat on the shelf. I display the 3D pictures on my 3D desktop computer monitor or my 3D laptop and also on my 3D LG TV. I think they look great there. If I print any, it's for use in a Victorian type viewer. In case you are interested in 3D, check out the Yahoo 3D forum at groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/photo-3d/info

Surely you mean the 20th century, not the 19th. If not good luck finding cameras on that list in the 19th, and of course the Rollei is from the 20th.

Re the LX 7. If I want to take close-ups of anything (within reason)I get out the LX 7. Also. Yesterday I was passing a cricket pitch where I had taken several hundred shots of matches with my DSLR, many of them on 'motordrive' last month. Kodaker - do you have the electronic viewfinder for your LX7? Yes I do have the DMW-LVF2 viewfinder, but rarely use it.

Sorry I have no experience with either the Panasonic SZ8 nor the Sigma DP1s but I totally agree that the Panasonic LX7 is a gem. With an f1.4 lens and manual everything possible it is an excellent camera. Although I have several digitals to choose from, unless I need a long zoom, I usually shoot with the LX7.
