Reijo would be right, a Petri Prest it is. Not my favourite camera, I have one too. Other bottom winders are Ricoh 35, 500 + 519, Fujica 35 SE, certain Baldas and I believe the Ricoh Auto 35.

Hi malkav, Sounds like you're having fun with that Canon, and that's what it's all about. Just be careful with any super glue around viewfinder windows, mirrors or lens glass as the gas given off by the glue drying will usually frost your glass for good. Have you got any other FD glass for your Canon? Hope to see a few pictures with this new camera.

Good luck Walker. Hope at least one if not both work ok for you. At this time of year it's sure nice to have something to tinker with to stave off the winter blahs.

Usually there's only two ways this much corrosion occurs: left out in the rain/mist or fell into the water. Salt spray from too many beach episodes will do it too. Since the corrosion seems mainly limited to under the top, I'll guess rain or salt spray especially in Florida. Most buys I've gotten from there were corroded cameras (my Edixa looked similar but works great and for $1) or lenses that have plenty of fungus. It's an ocean/humidity situation. Keep up the good work and glad to see you got the camera working again.

Sorry, I should have remembered one of our member's fine sites with Olympus OM10 info: lauro.fi/cameraindex.htm . If I copied this down wrong, simply go to the members tab at the top of the page, then click on by alphabet/letter then Reiska and click on his link to his camera page. Great work nicely done.

Nice aperture priority camera like the Ricoh XR-6 or Nikon EM. Made in 1978-80. The manual adapter is worth more than you paid for everything. Good deal. Many Olympus OM sites but you might start by trying www.butkus.org for a manual.

Three most likely tools you'll need (beyond Ronsonol lighter fluid or patience) would be a decent lens spanner wrench (homemade works just as well), a lens vise for restoring those filter ring dents we all love so much, and either a tiny pair of needle nose pliers or a tiny pair of tweezers. Just my two cents worth, but like Reijo I've been known to have a few disasters myself. Anyone need parts from 4 different 135mm lenses, LOL?

Hi Walker, Nice catch there. I've bought plenty more Ricoh Singlex SLR's than Pentax as they're usually much more reasonably priced and as tough as nails. Been bidding on most Prakticas and Ricohs that were priced well, surprised I missed this one, LOL. Good lens too. I've found Ricoh glass is every bit as good as Pentax to my eye anyhow and easier to find as the digital crowd hasn't caught on yet. Enjoy the Ricoh and I hope to see a few pictures one of these days.

I thought I was the only one noticing this. I told my wife all the things I've normally bought for under $15 are going for double and triple lately. I've even seen modest SLR's with a cheap no name zoom and a 135 lens go for nearly $100. As I add up the number I have sitting around gathering dust it makes me wonder, HMMMM. That said, I've gone on a bit of a mid winter, too cold to go outside bidding spree lately. All the better quality equipment I've bid on has gone for at least double my bid and I've broken my self imposed (read cheapskate, tighter than skin on a hot dog) $20 bidding limit to a huge extent. All the items I was mildly interested in I won, go figure. Now I have 14 cameras and 14 lens to pick up the next time I go to my US mailing address. Oh well, mostly Prakticas and cheap zooms but still plenty of fun to play with. Now if I can just find a cheap Yashica 124G or Rollieflex on Superbowl Sunday LOL.

Hi Walker, Sounds like a decent deal to me. I usually pay between $40-60 Can. for an SLR with 1 50mm at our local pawn shop. Both the lenses you picked up are good glass, the 1.4 especially. As long as you're aware of the problems with the meter (I never use mine anyway) and compensate for the shutter speeds it looks like a nice outfit for the price.

Very nice Beau Brownie. I like all the art deco Kodaks but so far I've never seen a Beau Brownie I could afford. Good purchase there. Hope to see a few pictures from it one of these days.

Just a picture of my latest Ikonta. I've wanted one of these for a while now and scooped this one pretty cheaply. Now for some weather to try it out. Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 522/24 45mm Novar f3.5

Thanks for the tip Peter, I had a couple apart but stopped after the rear ring. Guess I need to go into it a bit deeper.

Hi Peter, Yes, the Helios to my mind anyway is a much nicer lens to work with. The Meyer Domiplan has become the bane of my collecting since I have 9 and only two work properly. Apparently they were assembled with contact cement rather than grease. I really like Prakticas and now only bid on them if there is either an extra lens included or a non-Domiplan on the camera. Seems like the rest of the Meyer lenses were fine, just the Domiplan for some reason. P.S. I put the Helios on the camera to try both out then liked the look so much it stayed. Unfortunately the shutter is capping so it'll need a good CLA. Hi Randy, You like the Montana name huh, LOL? Plenty straight forward viewfinder camera. Fancier version came in imitation reptile covering. Mine is like new and seems to have been taken good care of. If we ever emerge from old man winter's chilly grip I'll need to try some film through it but so far it's way too cold out. I start 22 days of holidays on Thursday so maybe then, if not when I go to Vegas for Christmas. Ho Ho Ho, turkey buffet mmmmmm.
