I walked around it three times before finding an angle with few hotspots...

Old hot rodder's saying was, "If it don't go, chrome it". Show bike from a small car show at Hooters in Melbourne, FL on Saturday. Sad to say I missed the Bikini contest that took place later in the afternoon. Kodak 200, 1/250 @ f-11, Sears Auto TLS, 50/1.4 Auto Sears lens.

I used to cruise with a friend who had a Maverick with Hi-Po 289 heads on a 302, headers, cam and four barrel Holley. It was a routine thing to beat up on '75-80 Corvettes and most others that weren't running a big block. I attended the Fun Ford Weekend at Speed World in Orlando earlier today. There were several Maverick/Comet based cars there, including one Mav' that ran 9:07! Thought I had a picture but the aged film in my new acquisition didn't deliver any pictures!! Said acquisition is an unusual model and will show up in "E-bay finds" soon. Bill

Here's another shot from Saturday's Mustang roundup in Orlando. I've often thought that with the right color and stance, this lowly econocar would make a sleek ride. Someone else thought so, too. Canon EF, 28-70 Promaster zoom, Kodak 200, 1/250 @ f/8. Bill

Ron,
I agree with you. The 57, with its fins and bolder bumpers was my fave. I wish Ford's revival 'Bird was a bit more faithful in its styling, but you can't please everyone! It was a great day to look at cars. It was a Mustang oriented show with a few other interesting Fords. I have a few more I can post, but most cars were posed with their hoods open. Tough to make 'em look pretty that way.
Gene, I've been in FL for two years now. Fresh snowfall would be a welcome and heartwarming sight. Just as long as I don't have to climb up on the roof to shovel it off 'afore the next storm!

At the Mid Florida Mustang Club show on the east side of Orlando, Saturday, Feb 24th. I make this one out to be a '56. It has a porthole top and fresh air vents in the front fenders. Kodak 200 film. Promaster 28-70/3.9 lens. 1/500@f/8. Canon EF. Bill

These units had been on the road only two weeks when I captured them crossing the St. Sebastian River in Roseland, FL. The engines are EMD SD70M-2 models from General Motors. I think they are rated at about 4500 horspower. I think they're using two of these where they usually use three, older, 3000 HP models per train. Some fuel savings, no doubt. I've been skunked at this location several times since I moved to Florida. It seems they run four or five trains between 4pm and 7pm, but only when I don't have a camera! Kodak 200 film. Albinar 80-200/3.9. 1/500@ f/5.6. Canon EF. Bill

The car was named for Henry's son who died young, years before the car was in production. I think Edsel was responsible for the Lincoln Zephyr and the '39 Mercury, though I may be wrong on that. I remember seeing new Edsels in the showroom at the end of our street. I was still small enough to be perched on Dad's shoulder. After the Edsel, the dealership took on several English Marques I remeber Austin Healys, MG-Bs and Mini Mokes. Later they sold Lotus Elan and Europa.

I believe Beyer-Garrett is the name of the type. I think unique to South Africa. The six wheel "Buckeye" truck or bogie was unusual, seen under steam locomotive tenders, heavy duty flatcars and other specialized rolling stock.

And in 1992 Church street station was a jumping night spot! No more. It looks like the old steamer hasn't been painted since then either. Probably 50 years newer, that dome car behind it is a treasure, too.

My son and I attended the annual Turkey Rod Run in Daytona, FL for a second year. That's him checking out the green Nova. Sensory overload! This Stude' is the best custom I've seen based on this early 50s Loewey design. Raymond Loewey acheived notoriety styling electric and steam locomotives for the Pennsylvania Railroad. After WWII his firm styled a couple of Studebakers and the Anscoflex 620 TLR among other work. Kodacolor Gold 100, 50/2 Nikkor-S, Nikon F. 250th @ f8 Bill

Yes. Loops, rolls and a bunch of other stuff I don't know the names of yet. Also saw the serious stunt flyers in Pitts bi-planes and other aerobatic craft. As a non-aviator, I can't imagine how they do some of those manuevers and recover!

After about 40 years of taking pictures, I'm still not much of a photographer. I do have the occasional happy accident. See below. The camera is tracking a subject. The lens is nearly in focus. I press the button and it happens to be a good moment. Experimental Aviation Association "Sun-N-Fun". Lakeland, Florida USA. April, 2005. Canon F-1, 500/8 Canon FD mirror lens. ISO 400 print film.
